We predominantly teach traditional hot yoga, created by Bikram Choudhury, featuring 26 beginner postures, or asanas, and two breathing exercises. Our hot yoga series is designed to heal the body systematically through performing the asanas in a set sequence. Each posture stretches and strengthens specific muscles, ligaments, tendons and joints needed for the next posture. Our method also stimulates the organs, glands, and nerves, moving fresh oxygenated blood throughout the body. This helps restore all systems to a healthy working order. Continue to deepen your practice and your own personal exploration with the variety of classes we offer, and our workshops and wellness retreats.
The Hudson Hot series is designed to heal the body systematically through performing the asanas (postures) in a set sequence. This class is divided between a standing portion and a floor portion, with each posture performed twice. The yoga room is heated to allow for a safe, gentle, and effective stretch throughout the class. It is during your beginner friendly Hot 90 class where you begin the process of building your yoga foundation and healing your body inside out bones to skin.
A lunch-hour favourite. This class is a condensed version of the Hudson Hot 90. We recommend that students participate in at least ten Hudson Hot 90 classes prior to their first Hot 60 to acquire a solid foundation first! All 26 postures and breathing exercises remain, but some postures are performed only once. In addition, instructors are organic in their delivery to some degree. This is a great class for maintenance of your practice along with a good dose of sweat.
A dynamic sequence of postures that continually flow from one to the other, with a strong focus on alignment and building strength. This class is often accompanied with music of the instructor's choice and may include sun salutations, standing and seated postures as well as inversions.
Yin Yang is a restorative, meditative, yet challenging practice that involves some dynamic movements to warm up, then transitioning into long, deep postures held for 2-5 minutes. This allows the body to move beyond the muscular level and into deep tissue work. It's a great practice to help increase range of motion and manage injuries.
Yin yoga is a very restorative, meditative, yet challenging practice. Seated postures are held for 3-5 minutes in order to stretch beyond the muscle tissue, and into the deeper connective tissues of the body; the fascia, joints, tendons and ligaments so you can experience significant and long term increase in flexibility, and range of motion. It is great for healing from injuries or surgeries, and reducing stress.
Yoga Nidra, the state of dynamic sleep, the state of mind between wakefulness and sleep, where the unconscious mind is accessible at a deep level. The practice of yoga Nidra is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. Practiced on a comfortable position lying down, you are then guided through a series of breathing exercises and simple instructions, you then drop into the alpha state. Once the mind is calm and the body is relaxed, you become submerged in the silent space within where you are able to experience deep relaxation while the conscious mind is functioning at a deeper level of awareness. The purpose of yoga Nidra is to initiate the integrative processes that balance our being on all the subtle planes of existence. Benefits are many. Considered to be the master key for self transformation.
